Top 5 Gold Coast photo session locations for a family photo shoot ~ Gold Coast Family Photographer, Bec Zacher

The very best kind of family photo shoot is one that embodies your family story and the way you all love to show up in the world.

Planning your photo session around activities that you love to do together is the best way to create images that feel like you and are jam-packed full of authentic and fun memories.

If you're a beachy kinda family, grab your boards, chuck on your swimmers and let's hang out beachside for your session. If family arvos in the backyard around the firepit, riding bikes around the neighbourhood, or hanging out at the skatepark is more your vibe, let's capture that.

We get to write the story together so put aside everything you have seen and let's create something that feels just like you.

Here is a roundup of location ideas that make for a pretty fun Gold Coast family photo session experience!

1 // By the beach

We are spoilt for choice when it comes to incredible beaches here on the Gold Coast and in Northern NSW. In the summer months, we can head to a beachside location on the Northern or Southern end of the Gold Coast. My beachside locations have a mix of beachy fields, open white dunes, rocky outcrops for the kids to explore and epic rock pools at low tide. In the summer months, pack some swimmers and towels and we can end the session in the water at sunset. If you're an early riser, sunrise sessions are always an option too!

2 // Exploring the fields

A sunset field provides the perfect backdrop for capturing relaxed and playful moments with your family. With a wide-open space, your children can run, jump, and explore their surroundings. This creates an authentic and relaxed environment, allowing you to relax and let the kids lead the way. Plus, the natural lighting of the sunset creates a beautiful and warm glow, making for stunning pictures.

3 // Wading in the creek

If your kids love skimming rocks and exploring by the creek, there are some beautiful and quiet creek-side locations we can hold your session. These locations are around Currumbin and Tallebudgera Valley area on the Southern end of the Gold Coast.

4 // By the river

Water sessions are always a great idea! In warmer months, heading to a river location, building sandcastles, exploring the banks, and getting wet is a really fun experience. There are some great calm ocean inlet areas (minus the beach waves) that are perfect for kids, young and old.

5 // On your own property or an AirBnB

If you live on property and haven't thought about having a session at home, you should! Being in your own space and hanging out in your backyard makes for some special memories! Book an AirBnb or have a photo session while staying at a holiday house if you're after that backyard vibe but don't have the space. Holiday sessions are so great as you're often super relaxed, not racing home from work and off to a shoot and it's a beautiful memory to have of your holiday.

Temple Farmhouse in the Byron Bay Hills is one of my fav Airbnb properties to shoot at!
